the christmas i know

The Christmas I know, it’s the only type I do - friends and family make it all so unique too.

The tree is up and the lights twinkle and shine, the tinsel makes it pretty; It’s so itty bitty.

Baubles and other dangling doos dangle from the branches, beads and paper scrolls - ribbons too!

Every tree branch is decorated, not a single one left empty or bare, there are plenty of decorations to spare.

Every night and every day each of us begins to prepare, for Christmas is coming - there’s not a minute to spare. There’s wrapping paper stuck to the walls and sellotape all over the floors.

The Christmas I know, it’s baubles and bells galore, there’s smashed ones all over the floor. Angels and tree toppers too!

We sit and watch while the candles flicker and burn, there are blankets and pillows - there’s love, and there’s laughter too.

Christmas dinner comes, and family make humourless puns, there are wines and other drinks along the table. Crackers pop and party hats tear, there’s plenty of little gifts for people to share.

The Christmas I know we don’t ever get snow, one can wish, and one can only hope; for all we know one Christmas day the snow will fall. Then it’ll truly be a white Christmas for all!
